"The teacher holds my hand and opens a special box of things with secret voices..."
My grandmother taught in a one-room school house in Montrose, Colorado. I was a TK (Teacher's Kid) — my mother taught third-grade and was a high school guidance counselor. (I was in third grade when I helped my mom with bulletin boards and ::gasp:: saw the inside of the Teacher's Lounge!) Let me guess: You're here on your "own time." It's after school — even late at night — and you're searching the web for ideas for a poetry unit for National Poetry Month. Or, you're a parent who feels poetry has much to offer your child — both academically and heart-wise—and you'd like to weave poetry into your family life. Or, perhaps you're looking for inspiration for your own writing. I hope you find these resources helpful.
